Happy Palm Sunday to you too
Here are a few of my ideas that I have used my thrift store finds for ....thought I would share them with you today
This is a magazine rack that I got for $1.50 and immediately before I bought it I knew it was going to be a very unique flower container
It was fun making it ...I went and dug up some moss from by the woods and packed it around the whole of the rack so that it would have a lovely mossy base ..and would also help to keep the moisture in on a hot 100 degree (38 celcius) Alabama day. Then filled with potting soil.. I then put several small plants in it ..a blue lobelia , a Chocolate Chip Ajuga plant , a small fern and some small cuttings of other plants I have around the garden ...It will be great fun to see how it grows ..spilling over in all of it's loveliness ....I just LOVE it ...don't you ??
Find yourself an old magazine rack to create a unique one of a kind container
As you can see it will grow around paving stones
In cracks in a wall or pathway
Just a lovely Plant
It's also Perennial so will come back bigger and better every year
In many Christian churches, Palm Sunday includes a procession of the assembled worshipers carrying palms, representing the palm branches the crowd scattered in front of Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem. The difficulty of procuring palms in unfavorable climates led to their substitution with branches of native trees, including box, yew, willow, and olive The Sunday was often designated by the names of these trees, as in Yew Sunday, or by the general term Branch Sunday.
I visited Israel about 20 years ago
Can't remember the exact date
It was just the most wonderful experience
Very different terrain and customs than I was bought up with
I loved it and it was Easter time and you could
buy in the bazaar (markets) inside the walls of Jerusalem ...crosses made out of palm fronds just like these
I just Love this Angel container
I picked it up at the Thrift store of course
For only 50c... can you believe that !!
I use it all season long
It holds all sorts of items
To brighten up the home
At Christmas it has a small Rosemary tree in it
This Spring it has a beautiful
Pink Hyacinth Flower starting to burst out in all of it's glory
When you go to the Thrift store, Antique/Junk store ...
Think out of the box
Think how you can make it yours
I just love anything unusual
It makes you smile
When you see it
These flour sifters I planted bulbs in, used baked bean cans and put some holes in the bottom of them..then put them in the sifters ..and topped with moss
They are easy to water as the sifters have an open bottom so just water them from the top or if you are concerned about getting the sifter rusty you can just put ice cubes on the moss and that will water them gently
