We started with a mile or so walk from one of my Son's homes on the hill of St. Peter Port ( the capital of Guernsey ) and walked through all the winding streets, some cobbled and all lined with Victorian homes and the pretty views of the sea and the surrounding islands of Herm, Jethou and Sark ....
We approached the pretty harbor looking so lovely in the early morning sun with the visiting yachts bobbing up and down in the marina's
Over head we heard a sound I love and miss living in Alabama ..the laughing call of the Seagulls
Such a unique island ...no cars at all ..just dirt roads and you get about either in horse and carriages, bicycles or by foot ..some of the farmers do have tractors
There is a steep hill to go up from the Harbor to the top of the island and the main street and this is your transport up the dusty hill ....prepare to be covered in dust ...the whole of Sark is dusty but it's just so gorgeous it doesn't matter a bit !! ...There is also a photo of the Ambulance that is pulled by a tractor when needed ...
There is no hospital on the island so you have to be put on one of the boats or if your injuries are really serious a Helicopter will come and get you
Life in Sark is very different and back in time....unspoilt and community minded
This was just the one day of ultimate spoiling as the next day we were to have a wonderful party with my friends and family ..in the garden and home of my Sons with lots and lots of food etc ....a special Birthday weekend ...tell you about it in my next blog ...then I will blog about the rest of our vacation ..such happy times
Have a wonderful day and thanks so much for popping by
