This weekend Danny put some new landscape timbers around the Japanese Maple garden at the top of the driveway.
The fir ground creeper is called 'Emerald Carpet' it has grown so much over last Summer that we have had to extend the garden area by at least 18" on each side.
This meant I had to put down Weed Control Black fabric and two bags of Mini Bark Nuggets ...it looks lovely and fresh and cared for now ...
This Japanese Maple is one of several in the garden ...only 12 years ago it was literally just an 18" stick that we bought for $10 at a Trade Days event at Tannehill State Park.
I planted two bulbs 3 years ago and this year they have grown so much and have produced 6 buds so far.
I am ecstatic to see the full flower forming
The others are several weeks behind .
Now what shall I do ...Pick it when in full bloom and take in to the house to enjoy all day long or leave it in the garden to see it only when I go out there.
I am very tempted by the previous thought ...pick it !!!
A great cutting flower.
It blooms every year (Perennial) and comes in several colors.
Flowering early Spring till late Fall.
They are an ancient plant and remind me of my Mother and Grandmother's gardens.
Great for the shady place underneath the Bradford Pear Tree.
They have several Bluebird houses to choose from.
The little plastic tunnel and the wire cage are to keep out Squirrels, Snakes,Owls,Raccoons and Cats from reaching inside and grabbing the eggs.
I hope that Spring has Sprung wherever you are
