I thought that this year I would share some of how I do mine with you.
I loath it at first, as it takes a good part of the day doing it, but once I have started I get excited about wearing the lovely brighter shades of Summer and the finished closet looks glorious and makes me smile
Huggable Hangers by Joy Mangano of HSN Shopping Channel.
Now that was a revelation to me and my closet.
Joy boasts that you will be able to fit much more clothing in the same space with her hangers.
And it is true ...also they have a velvet like covering and items will not drop down on to the floor even if they are just spaghetti strapped camisoles.
They come in so many colors you are bound to find one to go with your decor ...I got the lilac .
I have had them for many years and just love them .
This is a photo of some of the colors being displayed by the shopping channel.
They are available on Amazon.com too.
I just LOVE scarves ...especially decorative one's that I can wear as an accessory in the summer and here are some of my favorite one's ..
I had almost finished my closet this afternoon and then wondered where to put my scarves ..instead of in a closed drawer I thought they were too pretty to keep in the dark so I have looped them around the hanging rail and pulled the two long pieces through each loop ..as shown above.
Now I can see the pretty scarves every morning when I wake up and it will be easier to see them and choose which one will go with my outfit for the day.
On the shelf above the hanging rails I have some white storage boxes.
They have a little see through window so that I can see what is in them without taking them down.
I bought these storage boxes years ago from the Swedish store Ikea.
I usually store some of my off season clothes in them.
They look great as well as functional...in between each of the boxes I have displayed some of my decorative pillows and a great decorative handbag with a blue leopard scarf tumbling from it.
Just another nice added detail to make you smile when you go to get dressed each day.
Shelving that can be hooked and hung from your main shelves are just great,
To put shoes on ...so you can easily see and easily match them to your outfit.
COLOR CO-ORDINATION is ESSENTIAL to have a lovely pleasing to the eye closet.
It's such fun to see it all in color blocks when you are deciding what to wear and a time saver too. You can even print out the color wheel and do them in that precise order if you wish.
Make sure you a can hang a pair of full length trousers (pants) that have been folded over a huggable hanger so that it has several inches space between the floor and the bottom of the hung trouser.
Also with the top rail make sure you can hang your longest top and that it doesn't quite reach the bottom rail ...if you have a shelf on the top of the rail like I do you could even put extra shoes or hats on it.
I hope some of these tips have been helpful to you,
And if you even just color co-ordinate your clothes.
That will make you smile every time you go in and look for ideas on what to wear.
Don't forget to put them back in the exact color block you took them from with all of the hooks and clothes facing the same way and it will never get untidy again.
