Making of a Country Wedding ...Part II

Continuing with the Making of a Country Wedding ...of our Daughter's wedding back in the Summer of 2013 ....it took over a span of 7 months to make everything ...almost everything in the Wedding was handmade ....with lots and lots of Love ...Mainly by Myself, my Husband Danny , Daughter Jaime and her now Husband Evan

We had the Venue ...our home ....we have acres of Woods and a woodland like dip in the back of the garden (yard) and a sunny green lawn with lots of Landscaping to the front ...

We decided the Ceremony would take part in the back of the garden (yard) amongst the trees and the moss ...a fairyland landscape ...with lots and lots of trees to hang Mason Jar Candle Lamps from

The Front would hold the reception ...with wooden tables, bales of hay Sofa's and using the full length Country porch to put on the large Buffet ...all homemade with love

Where do You Start ???

We chose a color ....it was to be Green and White ...

Partly because we knew where we could get FREE flowers for all of our floral needs ...

Yes we even did the flowers

First was a trip to the Thrift store ...the first of many

We were to have at the least 50 guests so we decided to cater for 70

We would need tablecloths ...country patterns on them ..green and white if possible so these were to be from Sheets ....lots of sheets ...which we found lots of at the thrift store ...gorgeous ones ..just had to launder and iron the ones that needed ironing ..put away ...not to worry about till the day

Plates ..beautiful plates ...in greens, white and creams ...sets of about 5 so each table had a matching set or a mix and match one ...note to selves ...wash them now and put away in air tight plastic storage boxes to keep clean ...tick that off the list till the day .....also got the storage containers from the thrift store

Mason Jars ....Lots of Mason Jars ....for drinks, candles, vases etc ...we found lots at the thrift store but had to also buy some ...once we had them wash the ones for drinking out of ..punch a hole in the centre of the lids ...glue screw rim to the centre disk so that when they are opened to put in drink they are not coming apart in guest hands ...order fancy green and white straws  - handmade at Etsy.com  ..

The list carried on and on ....we even got some comical salt 'n' pepper pots for each table that would make guests smile
Here

Are

Some

Of Them

Keep it pretty , romantic and above all simple .....don't complicate ...that was one of our rules ..didn't always work though

Table Centre Pieces ....very simple ..effective ....can be made months in advance

Mason Jars ....with a candle in ....glued to a slice of tree log

Bride groom to cut down some trees in his

back yard (garden)

He worked hard and sliced them thinly ...as you can see

He varnished them for us

We glued a Candle Glass Votive to the bottom of the Jar ...to do this put the votive upside down on
a can of vegetables etc..so that the jar can slip over it ...add a tiny amount of Gorilla Glue just a dot or it will spread and will be seen then pull the mason jar upside down over it and press gently ..hot glue the candles in to the votive

The Simple Homemade Centre Pieces

Looks great on the day

And all we had to do was place them in the centre

Of the Sheet covered table

Glue the Mason jar on to the wood also with Gorilla Glue so that you are sure on the day that it
will all be still glued together ..no time to redo

Decorate with moss (bought at Michaels Craft Shop) not fresh one it will dry out ..use either the over spill of Gorilla glue or hot glue gun to stick down the moss ...simple Centre piece ...finished ..tick it off the list

Do  you see the Mason Jar Drink Glasses ....We punched a hole in the lids with a tin punch the we surrounded the hole with different colored metal grommets  ..put in our fancy green and white straws purchased at Etsy.com ...and each Jar had a hand made Mason Jar Tag on it to which the guest wrote their name ...I will tell you how to make the Mason Jar tag labels in another blog or you can purchase them from me in my shop or I can make them to your color scheme ..ask me through comments or in one of my shops...Etsy or eBay ...link buttons at the right hand side of the page

Hope this has been helpful to you ....I will continue later on today with a short post about our Free Flowers and making Thrift Store chalkboards
