Its called a Rose of Sharon which seems to be part of the Hibiscus family but a hardy one as it withstands the harsh temperatures we get here in Alabama in the winter
It's a lovely lilac color and I believe you can get them in several colors ...this one just flowers and flowers all season long from the Spring till the first frost ...the Butterflies and Humming Birds love it as well as the bees
I have cut off 8 twig cuttings and made 8 new trees just this Spring ..they are already about 2 feet high with flowers on of their own ...no fuss you just cut them anywhere, don't even have to remove the leaves just stick them in the ground and they will root in a few weeks and become another tree ..they do like a sunny spot though ...won't grow much in complete shade
Great to give to your friends
Behind the Rose of Sharon are my red and pink Knock Out Roses ..also blooming profusely this year
Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells, and cockle shells,
And pretty maids all in a row.
Will go great with the Butternut Squash Chicken I am going to cook for tonight's meal ...there is nothing like eating freshly dug potatoes ...and they are so easy to grow and no work to look after but so satisfying to grow your own
Have a Wonderful day whatever you are doing
