Lots of trails to hike some are miles and miles long ..this sign points you to the slave quarter's and the cemetery, it's a nice walk with a sad, thought provoking end at the Slave Cemetery where the slaves of a nearby Plantation Home were buried ..some unmarked and others just a very small stone ..some with no names on ..it is deep in the woods with a little fence around it ...and it is a real place to contemplate times gone by ..very peaceful place
This is the start to one of the trail's it takes you to the ruins of the slave quarters...I have done it several times ..about 4 miles I would say ..it doesn't say on the signs ..I rescued my Husband from a Copper Head Snake (very poisonous) he was just about to step on it ..so having his foot half way in the air we quietly let it sliver off in to the woods and went on the way ...exhilarated by our adventure
We also came across this lovely red flower
Lots of them in the woods for Spring
They are Red Buckeye's ...lovely aren't they
Hope you enjoyed your little outing with me and had as much fun as my Husband and I did taking these photo's to show you and walking around this beautiful State Park ..
Of course we finished it off with a small cup of ice-cream from the old Candy Shop ...
I had Cherry and Danny had his usual chocolate
The end of a perfect day
