I am very happy with how each of them came out.
Nervous that I would not glaze them to their liking.
But they are thrilled with them ....the little cup was very involved as Ryan had put all kinds of things on it.
We are all pleased with the result
I made the plate scalloped ...not perfect but rustic ..it will fit one large chunky candle or three tea lights.
My Gran was the most wonderful Gran a girl could ever have.
She lived till 89 years old ...and I was so blessed to have her
Her dear Husband died when he was 28 years old ..on his way home from work he started to feel unwell.
He popped in to a near by Pub/Bar ..He had never been in a bar in his life and he didn't drink ..but he asked to use their rest room ...and was a long time in there so they went to look and found him dead sitting on the toilet !! he had, had a heart attack at 28 ...so my Darling Gran was widowed at the age of 24 with two beautiful little boys to look after ..no pension as there was not such a thing then.
So a hard life was ahead of her ..she rented the same sweet cottage for her whole adult life till she left it at 84 years old to go in a care home.
Her cottage had no electricity and no running water ...except for a faucet/tap outside in the garden . she had an out house down the garden ...no bathroom ...
Gas light only ...so when I used to go and stay with her every weekend with my Sister Sue ..we used to put the gas light off downstairs and go up the stairs with our Wee Willie Winkie style candle holder ..hence my pottery design.
The little 'button' decoration at the base of the handle reminds me of when I used help Gran to cut the buttons off of old clothes going to be thrown away and placing them in her huge old fashioned candy jar for her to use when she sewed etc...I also have a jar of used buttons and cut mine off to keep too.
Lovely memories of a simple life.
I can't wait to glaze it
I think I will glaze it in her favorite color of lilac/purple.
Then I will have a lovely memory dish of her
Are you nearly ready for Christmas ?
I am !
We have most of the food for Christmas.
All the presents are wrapped.
The decorations are up except for these few pottery items.
It's cold and crisp outside.
Danny is having lots of days off as he has many vacation days to use before the end of the year.
Looking very forward to the big day.
We bought the most splendid Tenderloin/Filet Mignon steaks yesterday and put them in the freezer till I get them out to make individual Beef Wellington's...Yum !!
We were also able to find the most perfect French Pork Pate to wrap around the steaks from Whole Foods.
I have lovely desserts to make such as Tiramisu and Chocolate Eclair pudding.
I am making 'Hello Dolly' bars for our Pottery Christmas Party next week.
I will post the recipes in the next few days.
Happy Days to you all
