Just one of the many plates that I have picked up at the Thrift store and just love
These flowers are just some of the flowers I have in my cutting garden
That I just grow to cut and bring in the house to enjoy
These are Cosmos and Zinnia Flowers all grown from seed ...they just thrive and go bonkers each year
They get so unruly that I have to put wire tomato cages around them so they can grow up them and not flop all over the place
I love my cutting flowers

I haven't posted these wooden Princess / Bridal Tea signs in my Etsy.com shop this Summer but they are available if you wanted to purchase them ..just contact me through my Etsy.com shop ..link in column above or in 'comment's in this blog ...I made them from scratch and cut out the wooden teapot shape and decorated them by hand ..adding wood crowns, pearl beads, flowers, chandeliers on the backs etc ..you can hang them anywhere ...I hung mine above the buffet table at our Daughter's Bridal Shower ..I will personalize them as shown in the photo with your desired Name, Occasion, Date or mostly anything you may like
Another much loved Thrift Store find ...Not Bella the Cat just the 'Kindlin' box ..solid wood ..made beautifully from pine wood ...to keep your 'Kindlin' in it ....after my Husband did a minor repair ..he had to replace the back of it as it had a crack ...I cleaned up the beautifully hand painted snow scene and it came up perfect then I repainted the 'Kindlin' letters in black and revarnished the whole of it ..I use it not for 'Kindlin' but to keep all of my table setting decorations, napkins, etc for our Christmas time tables ..I bought it for only $4.99
Summer Flowers and Butterflies on the back deck ...where the Squirrels and the Raccoons meet
The Squirrels love the Black Oiled Sunflower Seeds that I pile on the bench on the front garden

Just a quick update on Barney 'The Cemetery Cat'
I posted a few weeks ago the story of 'Barney' ...the much loved cat that greeted and comforted people when they came to the Cemetery to visit their loved ones last resting place
Barney died this year and was 20 years old
There is a out pouring of love for him and people have been so kind
They even gave him a resting place in the Cemetery
This is how Barney's resting place looks ....He even has a black marble plaque up on the wall and lots of flowers ...they even put his solar powered light that he had by his bed when he was alive
The island of Guernsey is an Island of animal lovers and this shows how much ...There is even a brand new beautiful bench to sit on and rest with your thoughts and still Barney won't be very far from you
Here is dear Barney
You can read the full story here:
Once my friend Rosy told me cats were Angels with Fur
She is right ...Barney was an Angel with fur to many
Thanks for popping by
Barney the Cemetery Cat Passes on after 20 years ...He gave Comfort to Everyone that Visited There ..Sleep well Dear Friend
Here is the story of a Cemetery Cat that lived for 20 years in the Cemetery my Mother, Father and Grandmother are buried in ...just a tiny Cemetery on my Island home of Guernsey ....ever time I went back to Guernsey and visited my families graves there he was to greet me ....
An Angel of the graveyard
This write up about him was so perfect that I haven't written one myself this was found os SWNS/REALFIX
I hope you enjoy reading his incredible story and that you can feel the love that was given to and given back from this darling little man
Tributes have been paid to a much-loved cemetery cat who consoled mourners for 20 YEARS – and has now been BURIED there.
Ginger tabby Barney spent his days walking the grounds of the burial site offering comfort to grieving loved ones during funerals and graveyard visits.
He died aged 20 on Friday evening from old age.
And one of his keepers Alan Curzon has confirmed he has now been laid to rest at the place where he spent his entire life brightening up the lives of hundreds during their darkest moments.
The popular moggy originally lived with his owners next door to the St Sampson’s Cemetery in Guernsey.
But after they moved away he kept returning to his previous territory and was eventually re-homed there.
Alan, 63, the cemetery sexton who has helped look after Barney since 1996 when he was just a kitten, said everyone was devastated.
But he praised the positive impact Barney had on so many people.
He said: “When relatives and friends have suffered the awful loss of someone close to them and go to visit a cemetery they are not in best frame of mind but Barney was always there to cheer him up.
“For those who entered the cemetery with a heavy heart, he lightened up the experience for them. When people walked through the gates, he often came up to them and brushed against them.
“There was not a bad bone in his body.
“We are putting a plaque on the wall and a bench and have found a little space for him in the cemetery where he is buried as well.
“The place won’t be the same without him and his death has left a gap. I have already seen a lot of people in tears and we are very upset, but he had a good life and was well looked after.”
Alan said Barney was well cared for and fed every day of the year – and even had Christmas presents left for him.
He added: “He was owned by the people who lived next door but they moved and he kept making his way back to what was his territory that eventually we made him a home there and he stayed.
“We would look after him and he would provide a lot of comfort to a lot of people .
“He had his own house but would spend his days wondering around. If he heard a car coming he would make himself known and was so friendly.
“I have been here 20 years and he was just a kitten then – he was born in 1996.
“He did not have to worry about a think, but I must stress it was not just me looking after him. There were a lot of people that took him to their hearts.”
The Rector of St Sampson’s Church Rev Timothy Dack said he carried out a lot of funerals at the cemetery and said Barney always offered a comforting presence.
He said: “I think the presence of Barney brought a lot of comfort to so many people.
“Whenever I was taking a funeral up there families were so happy to see Barney milling around. The mourners would see him and it would bring them a lot of joy.
“I just think he gave them great comfort. I know he was well cared for by a number of people.”
Many visitors to the cemetery have described Barney’s support as invaluable and tributes have been flooding in for him on social media.
Writing on Facebook Debbie Ann Le Page said: “God bless you Barney, remember that lovely sunny afternoon, I laid down on the grass in the cemetery and we cuddled up together for two hours.
“I needed a friend that day and there you were my angel!! God bless you.”
Sue Falla, whose daughter is buried at the cemetery, said: “I always felt my young daughter was never alone when he was there. Really going to miss you, Barney, RIP.”
Autumn LeLievre described Barney as “wonderful.”
She added: “He brought so much comfort to my children especially on our regular visits to the cemetery. Thanks to a special cat, sleep well and warm x.”
Kelly Ogier also wrote on Facebook: “All our family loved you so very much and we will always be so grateful of the comfort you gave us at what can be a difficult place.
“You brought sunshine to us all and we will love you forever xxxx.”
Pauline Goddard wrote: “My children loved going to see him when visiting their Gramps grave – a lovely cat that will be missed by many and now keeping our lost loved ones company .”
Karen Wilson added: “Such sad news.
“He came up to us after we buried my sister and he brought a smile to everyone.
RIP Barney now you will be keeping our loved ones safe on the other side.”
Members of the public also backed the decision to bury Barney at his home cemetery.
Andy Baker wrote: “He should have his very own little grave there as this was his chosen place while alive. He should be laid to rest there.
Mandy Hardman added: “He belongs there.”
Rest in Peace Sweet Angel ....Know that you were LOVED
With Christmas just a few days away I thought I would share some of Maisonvogue's Christmas Past trees, decorations and our silly cat Bella
Here is Bella about 6 years ago, her first Christmas helping Daddy get the big garden Reindeers out of the loft in the bedroom ...doesn't she look cute....she didn't want to come down
Eventually as you can see she decided it was getting boring up there alone
I LOVE this picture of Father Christmas (Santa) kneeling down by the crib of the Baby Jesus ..it warms my heart
Reindeer leap all over our Christmas tree
As you can see I just love English Robin Birds .....they are all over the tree too
This is how the top of the Christmas Tree looked in 2013
An old window I found at a thrift store had to be decorated for Christmas with my stars from Ikea
Silly Bella seemed to like her new toy that Santa had bought her ...guess she must have been a good girl that year !!!
Peek a Boo !!!
I love to put little vignette's around the house this one of a vintage teacup with trees and pine cone and a small collection of Church candles I purchase and collect when I go to France and Italian Churches on my travels
We have two beautiful cats that live in our house and also go out in the day whenever they like and two feral cats that we feed and pet out on the front porch
Their names are Bella , above, who is the craziest of all as you will see
Then there is Toby ..he was feral for 9 years then I tamed him enough to bring inside now it's like he was never feral and is such a darling ..he is now about 13 years old
The feral ones that I don't have a photo of at the moment are Big Daddy who has been around for about 14 years and is looking pretty old and tattered these days and then there is the new kid on the block ...Motley who turned up when nearby neighbors moved house and just left without their two kittens ..how can someone do that ??..the other kitten has taken up residence at another home along the road
Beautiful Toby follows me around the house like a dog ...he trusts me totally but has a fear of other humans ..he is good with my Husband but a little bit weary of him
Bella sleeps in crazy places ..most of them looking most uncomfortable and she loves to sleep in tight places that she doesn't really fit in
Toby's favorite place to be is on the back deck ..he feels safest there
Yes I am beautiful ..aren't I ??
Not a very good photo but this is Bella in a tight ball inside of a real birds nest that I collected from one of our trees after it had been vacated by the bird ...
I don't look very feral anymore but before my Mummy rescued me I was very thin and starving to death
When we returned back from Guernsey and France this summer they decided they would not let us leave again and claimed the suitcases whilst I was sorting out the dirty washing etc .....
They don't get on that well ...Bella mainly makes sure she is in a higher place than Toby ...but then somedays they sleep next to each other and rub each other ...this apparently is so that they can mix their smell to warn off other cats that this is their territory
Most of my thrift store finds are discovered and tried out by Miss Bella ..she immediately jumped in my Kindling box that I bought for $6 ..and repaired and now use to store my Christmas linens
When I put this table on the floor she immediately jumped in the bottom magazine rack ....
I revamped that table and hand painted a French address on it ...I just love it and Bella has never gone in it since !!
Even on the dining room table , where she is not really allowed, a basket isn't safe ..she jumped straight in it and squeezed her body in to it ..looking too cute to move ...I just wonder how she knew it was on the table
Toby doesn't like strange places to sleep ..he just craves comfort and soft textures to kneed his claws in to
Note to self : Don't leave draws open as Miss Bella will quickly find it
This basket had been bought home from the thrift store for about 5 minutes and this is what I found !!
Now I told you that Bella was crazy well this time she went Crackers !! ..she found this box of decorative crackers for the Christmas table on the Guest dressing table and just had to sleep on top of them ..she has never been on that dressing table before or since !!
This is the kind of comfort Toby prefers ..my cozy throw that I keep on the sofa in the winter
Hello Mum ..it's me again !!
Of course Bella has to be part of the Christmas decorations ..this time on the front porch ..prickly pine cones and a wreath inside of a wheel barrow seems to be a great place to bird watch
A rare moment of Sister and Brotherly love
Thanks for popping by ...I hope that Bella and Toby's antic have made you smile today
Have a wonderful day
Today I am posting some lovely images for you to download and enjoy ..so many uses ...to create smiles
You can even print them and frame them .. ..Make note cards out of them ..even invitations for your Special Occasion
You can use these as I do ..I print them out and spray adhesive them to some pretty stock card then put a lollipop (popsicle) stick on the back and stick them in cakes, sandwiches etc... at one of my tea parties ..they look so pretty ...
You could also make a lovely bunting to hang up over your tea or buffet table ...print the images out..spray adhesive them tho stock card ..punch two holes either side of the top of the cards and thread with twine or pretty ribbon ...then hang them up ....so pretty ..so unique
Whilst in France recently we bought French Meringue's exactly like these for my Birthday Party ..they looked so beautiful and tasted divine ...yummy
Finally we are all finished with our new border ....took 100's of yards of weed preventative fabric and 36 large bags of Pine Bark Nuggets and 16 landscape timbers
I will need to get some plants this Fall and next Spring ....but all will have to be easy to keep with no maintenance of any kind as that was the point of this border ..to cut down the work involved and also to give us added privacy from the road and any other homes that might be built in front of us
I wanted to put a few cute features in the garden and used these slices of tree to put under the Japanese Bird House feeder ...so hopefully they will discourage any stray sunflower seed from growing ..we will see if it works ..should help some though ..and I think it looks cute ..don't you ??
As you can see I really need more plants but they will have to be shade loving plants like Hosta's and Hydrangeas ....I have put in the over-turned yellow pot and put water in it for toads, insects, birds and even the cats to drink from ...
A piece of drift wood creates a little bit of interest and texture and is also a memory as we bought it home from one our trips to the Gulf of Mexico
One of my favorite plants is the Indian Feather Plant ....it looks like dancing butterflies in the wind ...I replanted it here last Fall from a pot on the back deck ..I have one on the deck now that I will also replant this Fall in this new border ...
My Sunny Cosmos plants are from seeds I planted this year ...they haven't done very well in this shady spot as they really like full sun but they do look pretty
Of course the Black Eyed Susan's are loving showing us how pretty and bright they are ..this was just a cutting of the big one I have on the back deck but Black Eyed Susan's never let you down and come back bigger and better every year
So there we are ...the update is complete ...I love this garden and it will make the lawn mowing so much easier too ..no more of mowing under the trees and getting scratched like mad ...no tree roots coming out of the grass blunting the mower's blades ...just a win, win, win situation ..I think
Happy Gardening to you all
Out on the back deck this morning as the sun rose up behind the trees my beautiful cat Bella and I discovered that our Cosmos Flowers had finally opened ..to the joy of a wonderful day ...
I planted the seeds for these Cosmos Flowers just 7 weeks ago and they are at least 3 feet high ..such a joy to watch them germinate within 5 days and grow
Today I was awarded with the golden yellow and the deep orange of these lovely flowers ...each one of them the colors of the sun
Equally to our delight the woody twig clippings I cut from our Rose of Sharon tree just after the last frost this Spring have welcomed the day with three lovely big purple flowers now a small tree of their own ....so easy to propagate and yet they give you so much ..these will flower all day, every day till the first frost of the Winter
These are three twigs that have rooted but as I am an impatient gardener ..I will leave these three together to make one large tree and will repot them in to a larger pot in the fall ...
Loved not just by us but by Humming Birds, Honey Bees & Butterflies ....such a showy tree or some like to call them bushes
Sweet Toby want's to say ' Good Morning ' too ...much to Bella's disgust ...He always steals her limelight !!
Below is the Rose of Sharon I took these three cutting from ...I have grown many new trees from this one original ..that was also a small twig cutting from my Husband's Childhood Home garden
Have a wonderful start to your day ...look around at your surroundings and treat yourself at least once today !
I glanced outside today in the glorious Alabama Sunshine and saw the glory of my knock out roses
They were bobbing about in the light breeze saying ' look at me, look at me' how wonderful I look with my fresh green leaves and my bright red blooms ....these rose bushes are such a success
The only attention they require is to trim them back now and again to tame their wild ways ..love them
They inspired me to blog today about some of the flowers that adorn my garden every year ...I just love my garden and when we arrived 15 years ago it was just a blank canvas waiting for me to bring it alive
No landscaping what so ever just a green turfed lawn
My Son helped me create this little garden on the right ...whilst he was over here on a visit he helped me plant the trees and bushes ..they were much smaller then but love where we put them
The Gardenia Bush is in the same section and blooms three times a season filling the air with their perfume ...I breath it in and savor it's perfume every time I go outside
These two lace head hydrangea's make great cutting plants and if caught at the right time dry very well
A white gardenia bloom in all it's glory ..they only last one day but still make great cutting flowers to perfume your home ..as there are so many blooms you can replace them each day to keep it going
Anyone can grow these Morning Glories that I let do their own thing on the railings of our front porch ..they are self seeding and will come back each year ...try several colors together for visual impact. Collect some of the seeds and gift to family and friends to plant in a sunny spot after the last frost
Brightly colored Caladiums ..love the shade under the umbrella on the back deck whilst the hibiscus flowers bask in the hot sun of the day
I found a use for my old Kitchen baker's rack ..took it to pieces and used the iron work around the garden
Thanks for visiting my garden ..I hope it gave you a few ideas of what to do or what not to do ...enjoy it and don't let it be too much work ...most of my plants come up by themselves each year (perennial) and I add some annuals such as the impatient's, hanging baskets and little ones I can't resist to bring home every year
Fabric and chip bark all of your beds including the vegetable gardens ...no weeding ...and just replenish the bark ever other year
Oh yes my greatest tip is ...get your Husband to trim the bushes ...whilst you cover the surrounding ground and bushes with old sheets or ones from the thrift store ...so you just have to scoop up the corners once he has finished and dump the cuttings where you usually put them ...having the next bush already covered and ready for Hubby to do the next one ...then a clean garden and happiness all around
Happy gardening !!
Can you spot the Cheeky Chappie on the railing at the back of our deck
NOW THE STARS OF THE SHOW
MY RACCOON FAMILY ....8 OF THEM IN ALL (SO FAR) DAISY IS THE MOTHER OF MOST OF THEM
Daisy just Loves to have a bath in the fountain on the back deck as you can see ...she comes up in the
early evening to have some peace without the kids
I just sit in my chair and chat to her ...she is a good listener
Hope you enjoyed meeting everyone ....I guess it's time for a Cat Nap or Two
Love the Animals and they will love you back
See you tomorrow !
I love anything artsy I especially love sewing and vintage prints and shabby chic ...pretty feminine things to adorn the home
