After several weeks of unseasonably warm weather here in Alabama it has turned out to be a very chilly day today ..hovering just above freezing with a piercing wind I was pleased to get out my Winter coat and wrap my new, warm, faux sheep wool scarf around my neck that Danny bought me for Christmas.
I thought I would share some bits 'n' pieces of items I have here in our home at Maisonvogue.
I Just love it don't you ???
He got it from a boutique shop called ' Alter'd State' ..one of my favorite shops.
I keep it displayed under a glass dome ...on the cake pedestal that you see in this photo above.
I had some tiny gold foil leaves that I have used as table confetti over the years so I sprinkled them on top of the mirrored surface.
The Enamel jug hand painted with blue cabbage roses and the rose teacup and saucer are treasured finds from the thrift store.
I bought it back from my island birth home of Guernsey in the UK when she passed away in 2002.
It is in our guest room and I found these other two little prints that seem to compliment it perfectly at a thrift store for just 10c each ..I mainly bought them for the unusual metal wall hanging hooks ..shaped like a crown ..I painted them green
Immediately sending out nostalgic echo's of a romantic past.
So pretty with magazine racks on either side.
Giving me another reason to display bits 'n' pieces from my collection of thrift store finds
The little pillow is my own design ...
It's a vintage French ad for a chocolate drink to have for breakfast
I then added a teacup and butterflies to the design
Printed it on the fabric and sewed it up
This time a beautiful china lamp
Once belonging to my Husband's Grandmother
Still as elegant as it used to be
It stands proudly on the Guest Bedroom night stand
I have a pair of them
Pink morning glories in metal are so pretty on the plate stand yet another thrift store treasure
That holds a poem I composed many years ago about our home in the woods
And a much loved drinks coaster that just matched the room decor perfectly
A lucky thrift store find that was unseen by others
As it was under a huge pile of china dinner plates
I found it ...
Made of solid oak wood
Covered in cobwebs and dust
Neglected and sad
Danny put a lovely wood coving around the top
All of a sudden the ugly duckling started to turn in to a swan
I painted it and shabby chic'd it
Leaving the lovely wood on the back and the top of the shelves
Now it stands proudly
Released from it's sadness
Housing my much loved books and Objet D'art
Really made for sweets/candy to sit on
The roses are painted exquisitely
A place for my little silver bird perched on an egg to sit
A lovely wooden 'Old Country Store'
Full of detail and joy
My pink Hyacinth flowers
Have grown beautifully this year
Spreading their perfume through the house
It's great to display lots of bits 'n' pieces
This time two fabric hydrangea flowers
A stone red heart
That I gave to each of my school time girl friends
Whilst going back home last year
Tying us together ..
A smile when we see it
Joining us together for ever
I hope that you enjoyed this little rant about
My bits 'n' pieces that live with us at Maisonvogue
I love to adopt 'forgotten' items
Once loved but now discarded
I promise them a forever home
Where they will be loved again
for all time
Go out today and see if you can find some treasures
Please give them a home
Happy Days to you all
