Autumn is on it's way here in Alabama
I must enjoy the wonderful Humming Birds
That grace us with their presence every year
The type we have are called The Ruby Red Hummingbird' only the males have this bright red chest and throat
At the moment we are inundated with them
Clouds of them swarming all over the feeders filled with sugar and water and they love the flowers too
The males fight each other for their territory and fight like Japanese Warriors...
We sometimes have to duck down as they come like jets through the air
They will return again in mid March ..we will miss them
A wonderful Pumpkin Cake ..it will take some time to make it but well worth it
You can make it weeks before and take it out the night before you require it
Cover it with fondant that you have colored in orange food coloring use plastic gloves so that your hands aren't stained ....when putting on the fondant rub hands with corn starch ...to make it really smooth ...
Bake in a Bundt tin that has pumpkin like curves to it ...don't forget to oil or butter (that has melted) the tin first then sprinkle flour all inside it then turn over and tap the excess flour out ..this will prevent the cake from sticking to the tin
Such a beautiful cake
You will be sure to get many gasps and compliments
- 2 standard size bags microwave popcorn, popped (I used butter flavored popcorn)
- 1 package Wilton Orange Candy Melts
- 10 Oreos, crushed (I used Halloween Oreos that have an orange creme centre for extra color)
STEP 1: Place popped popcorn into a large bowl.
STEP 2: Melt candy melts according to package directions, then pour over popcorn using a rubber spatula to coat.
STEP 3: Crumble Oreos over top of popcorn and sprinkle with tons of festive sprinkles.
STEP 4: Break into pieces, and store in air tight container or wrap in cellophane.
I love how these strawberries were turned upside down and look like real ghosts
Find a mouse shaped strawberry ...then melt some chocolate brown and white ...
You will need some sliced almonds for the ears
Cover the ones in brown with the almonds also attached and covered in the chocolate
The white ones leave the almond ears out till you have poured the white chocolate over ..pipe some tiny brown eyes with the remaining chocolate and push in a tail that is made from liquorice
Have Fun getting ready for Halloween
Best wishes Janet
