Pottery Bird House I made my favorite one up to now

Picture
I am so happy with how my latest bird house turned out .
It looks so sweet hung up on the back deck .

Picture
It was very interesting to make ....as each piece that I cut did not match up to the one it had to be connected too ...
A complete brain tease
So I had to make them meet and then a 'crooked' bird house emerged
So much fun

Picture
It looks so cute hanging on the back deck
I found this super cute bird hanging basket bracket on Amazon ..it was only $9

Picture
My newest Amaco glaze is Ancient Copper and as you can see it made the roof look like copper ..so happy with it

I also bought a Mayco's Yellow Matte when I got the ancient copper and I just love how it breaks up over the walls of the house ..indicating age.
Do you like my cute blue and red toadstool ??

Picture
I love how my very crooked dormer window turned out ..and how I put Amaco's Indigo Blue on the ridges of the roof
Picture
A whimsical mushroom on the side

Picture
A little purple and blue bird sits on the roof ..I love it but I think I should have glazed it in lighter colors so it stood out better
Picture
Just loving how my glazes workout on the windows of this dormer and of the front window ...also indicating that the windows paint is all worn out and beaten up ....love it !!!
Picture
I could not resist in just showing you that roof again ...I think it is so luscious
But then again I am obsessed by pottery making these days
This bird house it totally just ornamental
If I did see a bird trying to nest in it I would block it off
As it would get too hot here in the Alabama sunshine and the little eggs could cook
Or the little birds could die
I see it all day long as the deck is just off of our kitchen's back door

Picture
I have been making two large very ornamental mushrooms/toadstools for our flower beds
One of the mushroom caps will be fired this week and I can bring it home
The other I just made and it has gone in the kiln for it's first firing ..then I will have to glaze it
And last week I made the two mushroom stems ....
I had to remake one as when it went in the kiln it severely cracked
I can't wait to see them sitting in the garden
A lot of love went in to them
Here is a sneak peak of the two mushroom caps

Thanks for popping by and listening to my warbling
If you are a potter 'happy potterying'
If you are a crafter 'happy crafting'
Happy days to you all whatever you like to do that brings you joy
See you next time

Why I work so hard in our garden ..it pays me back tenfold

Picture
I have worked so hard this Spring in an unusually very hot Spring ...to tend my garden before the real heat hits us ..and get it all ready to cope with the harsh sun.
And this is why ...it pays me back tenfold ....
I have flowers in my 'cutting' garden and flowers just for show ...so I can cut the flowers without taking anything away from the beauty of the garden
And today I cut these glorious Gladioli ...never knowing what color they will produce
The pink one with the deeper pink inside is a new one for this year ...I have never seen them produce this color

I have also started to cut some Hydrangea's ..one of my favorite flowers
The bushes are so large it does not harm the beauty by cutting one or two now and again
I will have Hydrangea's to pick all Summer long
And they also dry very well ..
Hang them upside down in a dark basement, room or closet
You can also buy a 'floral' spray paint from Michaels craft store to get the right color to match your home decor

Picture
Gladioli are a wonderful flower ...they are Perennial so they come back every year and apart from the odd tying up to secure them in the wind and storms, as they grow very tall...they look after themselves
I use scraps of fabric cut in to small ribbons to tie up my flowers, vegetables etc
It looks pretty and is much more gentle on the plant
Haven't got any spare fabric !!  go and buy some from the thrift store
You can cut up old curtains, dresses, tablecloths etc.
Gladioli love sun, sun/shade ....
Go and buy some bulbs ..I think they are available in the Autumn or perhaps early spring

Happy Gardening
