Pottery Pieces I made for our Garden Yard

Picture
Here are some photo's of the Mushroom I made for our front garden to sit amongst the bed of Hosta's
The Stem of the mushroom cracked badly in the Kiln so I have made some others that are waiting for me to glaze them ..they will be taller than this one ...one has flowers on it and one has butterflies on it for my other mushroom cap with the lizard on it that is waiting to go in the kiln for it's final firing
Picture
I love the colors and of course my Blue bird ...Super pleased
Picture
This is how it looked once I had glazed it ...and look how the colors changed when fired in the kiln ..amazing

Picture
This is the second mushroom cap I have made with a lizard, lady bugs and a butterfly on it ...below it is all glazed ready to go in the kiln for the final time
It should be turquoise, purple/pink and deep green ..but we will see

Can you see the little bee in the flower ??
It should come out yellow and black in a deep blue flower with a copper colored centre ..but only the kiln knows what colors will happen in the kilns magic

Picture
I am making items to sell in my new Etsy store called Oak Forest Pottery (that I will open in a few weeks time ....these are a set of 3 bird perch swings to hang in the trees at different levels for the birds to perch on ...they could also be put by a bird feeder for the birds to sit on whilst waiting for their turn at the feeder
Picture
I will post when my shop is open
I will be selling jewelry ..scarf pins..decorative spoons, bird swings, etc..etc..all hand made with love by myself ..beautifully wrapped for gift giving

Each swing will be unique ..I have orders for two sets at the moment and will put some tiny birds on them ...and lady bugs on the leaves ..so sweet

I made this ancient looking bowl ...and the little house and stepping stones to put on our back deck patio table..so nicely seen from the kitchen and kitchen nook

I couldn't help but put a small tree on the back of the house ..so sweet

I try to put my Initial signature whenever I can and here it fitted nicely to the side of the bowl ..love it

Last week I made this artsy sun to hang on our garden retaining wall going down our driveway ..I can't wait to glaze it in bright colors

Carolina Wren ..The last of the Bird Nesting for this year at Maisonvogue

Picture
I took this photo yesterday of the 4 baby Carolina Wrens (there is one in the back of the nest) this is the second attempt to bring up a healthy family of babies.
5 Weeks ago a raccoon wrecked the nest and ate the little babies
But the Parents didn't give up and bravely gave it another go
I am hopeful for this brood

Picture
Picture
They nested in our old faux window that hangs on the wall of the house on our front porch that has a full roof over it ..so the perfect place
Out of the weather, rain, wind and sun
I have not been able to decorate it for Summer as the birds have been nesting most of Spring

Picture
Perfectly made nest ..hidden and cozy
I just thought I would share my cute photo of the babies
I am very pleased with how the photo turned out

I will keep you all posted on the progress

Happy Days ...Happy Bird Watching

Happy Father's Day Dad

Picture
Happy Father's Day to my dear Husband Danny ...
Happy Father's Day to my Darling Dad
Who left us far too early ..31 years ago
Dad was the best Dad ever .
He was my confidant, Best Friend, Hero ....I can still feel the warmth of his hands all these years past
I think of him several times a day
He was a self taught handy man
Renovating my first house that was in a very rough condition
He tore down walls, ceilings, stair cases and rebuilt the whole of the inside as well as building a beautiful victorian looking porch on the front of the house and a massive concrete wall surrounding the property
Dad was just no good at plastering walls so my dear Uncle Horace would come along and help
Whenever I do a bit of DIY I can hear him instructing me on how to do it
He taught me how to mend small electric items
How to paint
How to Wallpaper and so much more

Picture
Dad loved his motorbike ..that he used to take Mum around on whilst they were 'courting'
Of course when they got married he had to sell it
Picture
Dad was a natural clown ...he was so funny and here he is being extra silly at the little garage he worked at and had shares in ...he never stopped laughing despite all the things he had medically wrong with him ..battling cancer at the age of 32 and winning and a life time of disc pain in his back
Picture
12th August, 1950 this beautiful couple said their Vows and lived a very, very happy married life till Dad died of cancer in 1988 ....Mum never got over it, she was totally heart broken and was never the same ..she lived 15 years after ...longing for the day she would be with Dad again
Picture

Finally here is Dad with his dear older brother Ernie ....

If you are so lucky to have a wonderful father treasure them whilst they are here with you

As you never know when they will leave and you are just left with beautiful memories

I LOVE YOU DAD

God Bless
