Celebrating Our 20th Wedding Anniversary with Romantic Shabby Chic Home Decor

Picture

This week we are very happy to be celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary
We are so lucky to have been blessed with the happiest of marriages
Every day so special to be together
Full of respect, admiration, fun and above all love
I thought I would celebrate it with a few romantic ideas of how to decorate a Shabby Chic home
Picture
We had a quiet , very romantic wedding ...just the two of us ...at Port Canaveral, Florida on the beach in a Gazebo that was draped with flowers and we had beautiful music playing in the background ..we also arranged the Wedding on the internet ..I didn't see my flowers till the Wedding Officiant handed them to me ...they were everything that I could ever have wanted ....I loved them ...I had tiny pink rosebuds on my dress and jacket so they matched perfectly ....Pink roses and White Orchards ...I am pleased to say that I am much thinner nowadays ...and have my lifetime weight problem totally under control ...I loved my outfit ....but it's too big for me now not that I would ever wear it again ...it's still as white as ever 20 years after
Picture
We are going on a short vacation to celebrate it ...and are renting this cute little shabby chic cottage on top of Look Out Mountain, Tennessee ...I can't wait ..it's right next to Little River Canyon and we can walk there from the front door ...I can't wait for a relaxing, stressless time ....watching the deer coming down to drink from the small lake infront of our covered porch in the evening ....bliss ...lots of photo's will follow of course

I am such a hopeless romantic
This pink, girly, lacy, flowing style
Just touches my heart
So much of it made by hand with so much love
It makes me smile
Create something for yourself
But be careful
It's addictive !!!!

Life changed so completely 20 years ago
When we made a commitment to each other
And I put down roots in the USA
A foreign country to me
(I am British)
With a very different culture
But being with Danny
Made it just seem so easy
Such a flawless transformation
An adventure I never imagined for myself
Such a happiness I did not know existed
A reality that LOVE can change everything
Love has been the answer for me
A deep, nurturing love
Of oneness
Selfishness does not exist
Respecting and honoring each other
Making each other happy every day
With kind thoughts, understanding
Putting the other one before one's self
Love conquers all
May we be blessed with many more years to come

I love these ..I am going to make some for myself ..what great gifts they would make too ...adding a little romance to any small space
Picture
Pink is my favorite color ...and then a touch of a soft green just adds more to the 'what's not to love'
I smile when I see pink roses on home decor
I like a very warm, inviting space to call home
I obviously could not live in a minimalist home

I love these rag hearts so much that Little Prairie Sparrow on Etsy.com sells  ...so romantic

Thank you so much for popping by and celebrating our Wedding Anniversary

May you all have love in your lives

Be kind to each other

See you soon

Kindest Regards

My Pottery Creations, Flowers, Birds & Spring Closets

Picture
Here is my finished jug/pitcher ...I think it might just be the best thing I have made so far ..
I am just in love with it

Picture
This is my very quickly made Daisy Bowl ..that I made to eat blueberries and strawberries etc in ..the daisy on the top acts like a thumb rest and I moulded it to my hand so it's very comfortable to hold and enjoy my treats
Picture
I wanted to make the handle something different and here is what I designed ..a belt and I am so happy that the glazeI used (Amaco's Textured Amber) turned out to look like leather ..I used (Amaco's Palladium) to make the brackets and the buckles to look like shiny metal ..it just worked ..I am super happy
Picture
I made this spoon about a year ago but it just fits it perfectly
Picture
Picture
The Peonies just keep giving
Picture
Picture
Picture
For the Potters that are looking ...a list of  the glazes I used from the bottom upwards   All of them are by Amaco  ...Textured Amber x3    Obsidian x 3 all the way up     leaving band of Obsidian I used Indigo Float x 3    then I put an inch wide very thick and chunky band of Seaweed just the 1 coat ...I repeated these colors inside and then put a line of Iron Lustre on the rim
Picture
Picture
I love the stamp I designed and had made for me on a 3D printer wit my Initials on it ..my Potters Mark
Picture
My ancient Sweet Williams are a winner and keep me in cut flowers all early Summer long
Picture
Picture
I am happy with the bottom of my Daisy Bowl ...I used a glaze wash ...if I used a normal glaze it would have stuck to the kiln shelf ..not a good idea
Picture
I used Amaco's Iron Lustre x 3  with Oatmeal x 3 on top and it dripped to this glorious color with blue runs on the bottom ..the centre is Amaco's Snow
Picture
I have also been busy changing my closet to my Summer clothes, color coded of course ...I recycled the old bathroom towel rack and displayed my favorite Summer scarves ..so easy now for me to decide which one I want to wear
Picture
My cute rose hook is from Anthropologie ..in the clearance bin of course
Picture
Most of them gifts from my Husband Danny ..he has great taste
Picture
A quick peek at what I have been working on at pottery the past two lessons ...a very Crooked Bird House ...quite challenging as I like things to be perfect and match up and this house doesn't match up anywhere ..it's higgledy Piggledy ...and such fun to make ...I can't wait to glaze it once it's out of the first firing in the kiln

It was Mothers Day in England three weeks ago .
My Son's know how much I love my garden
So they had four items sent to me over the past three weeks
Such fun to see what the Postal Lady brought me

I have some Raspberry Canes ...I hope they work down here in the heat of the South ..we will see

A Blackberry bush that is ever bearing ..

A Tango Hummingbird Mint  ...to attract humming bird and butterflies

And this 3 1/2 foot tree sapling ..of a Tulip Tree ...it  is very fast grown and will eventually get as big as the tree below ..in it's Autumn Foliage and will produce these lovely tulip flowers on it in the Spring/early Summer

Picture
Picture
Picture
Finally I bought this lovely 2 foot tall metal bird cage from Michaels yesterday ...it was $30 but 50% off and it went down to just $15 (around 10 British pounds)
I am going to hang it up from my front porch as a hanging basket ..put a terra-cotta pot in it and fill it with shocking pink Petunias ..one of mine broke last year so this is a very happy replacement ...I have another 3 cages that I will also fill with the Petunia's

I put a lovely birds nest in it for the photo

And so that it looks Eastery ...

And I can now wish you all a very happy Easter , Pass Over or just a wonderful Easter Break time

Thank you for popping by

Always be kind to each other

Happy Days

Janet's Spring Garden at Maisonvogue

Picture
It's Spring in Alabama ...we have had some gorgeous days 78f/29c ...endless sun and blue skies ...our fare share of rain showers and storms ..in fact we have a violent storm going on at the moment with booming thunder from the heavens and threats of tornado's
My Peonies are blooming as you can see .this glorious deep fuchsia pink ..with the brightest yellow pollen filled centre  ....so fragrant like an old ancient flower should smell
Picture
Picture
I have pale pink ones too about to burst from their beautiful buds
I planted a new Peonie bush a few weeks ago that has already popped out of the ground with a cluster of leaves but it won't flower till the second year ...which is fine it will be worth the wait
They should look like the one in the photo below

Picture
Picture
Picture
My cute little Mexican pottery chicken is showing off a gorgeous yellow million bells flower
Picture
Picture
Picture
The Pansies are still holding in there but as soon as the heat arrives in Alabama they will give up and it will be time to replace them with something Summer heat hardy ..they have done me proud and flowered all Winter long ..such happy flowers
Picture
Picture
Picture
Gorgeous Black Eye Susan's ....a new strain it seems as these are luscious and quite large not like the normal ones that I have ...my new favorite flower
Picture
Picture
This is also a Black Eyed Susan but this plant has loads of brown on the petals ...so I have them side by side in pots ...I can't wait to see them growing ...they should get 36" high
Picture
Picture
Picture
Picture
I found this piece of metal work at my local Salvation Army thrift store ..just leaning by some furniture and paid just $4.99 for it ...I painted it and just love it ...a nice prop for my very tall Gladioli to lean on ..
I also have one with birds on and highlighted them with white paint ...what's not to love

Picture
Beautiful Sun Patients ....I have a large bush of them in one of my Mexican' Pots ...it will bloom till the first frost ...so hardy and sun/drought tolerant ...a winner in our garden
Picture
This cute castle turret holds shelled peanuts ....the bird chimes are a hand made gift from a dear friend

Picture
One of my beard iris ....it's very large bigger than a hand  ....lots of flowers ..I also am waiting to see my blue and purple iris's to bloom
Picture
A shade favorite ....Hosta's ...I have many varieties and I am hoping one day that they will all merge in to one large clump ..I add new ones every year ..they like to be generously watered ..especially in hot Alabama
Picture
A tipped over pot provides water for small animals (chipmunks) birds and insects and some of mine make a great toad house ....
I am intending to make a toad house at pottery ...I am at the moment making a crooked bird house ...everything on it and the shape of it is all crooked and crazy ...lots of fun to make

Picture
It won't be long now till I can pick some Star gazing lilies ....I have a large clump of them and planted new colors this year ..so lemon, red, pink are expected to show
Picture
A weathered concrete frog friend ..I don't know wether to leave it like this or paint it ...he has a friend that sits upright on a piece of drift wood I collected many years ago from Gulf Shores
Picture
Just some of the trees at Maisonvogue ...when we moved there , it was a new build , there was not a tree or bush anywhere ...look at it now ..one of our Japanese Maples is in full red splendor ..it's grown a lot since last year ..that is my Husband's 1951 Ford Truck in the back ground
Picture
A great secret sitting place ...I repainted my concrete cat this year and am very pleased with it ..another of our Japanese Maples in
the back ground it is about 30 feet high or more
A treasured gift from a Friend about 12 years ago it was literally just a small stick with roots ..guess it likes living at Maisonvogue

Picture
A peak in to our woodland garden ...this is a Yellow Bell ....it has now finished flowering and is just hanging out in the woods
Picture
This is our Carolina Wren nest ...the eggs have hatched and Mom & Dad are very busy parents with the constant feeding the babies demand ..they nest every year in my old faux window hanging ...a great place to nest ..no animal can get to it and it's under the roof of our front porch so no rain to worry about ..wise birds ..if you look closely you can just see the little yellow beak of one of the babies ..it's a very deep nest they are so warm and cozy ...a wonderful nest
Picture
The nest is to the far left of the window so well hidden ...there are 5 new babies
Picture
My first year of planting Blueberry Bushes ..I have 2 of them ...and I am already waiting for the fruit to ripen ..how exciting to be able to pick my own blueberries
Picture
In England and several countries around the world it was Mother's Day on the 31st March ...I was very lucky to receive new plants from my Son's ...I am still awaiting for some to be released from the nursery for planting ...I have already received some White and Red Raspberry canes ...I am tracking some that will arrive on Monday ..a Blackberry Arapaho bush , Tango Humming Bird bush and a gorgeous Tulip Tree ..How lucky am I !!!
Picture
