Thank you for sharing a few moments of our happy celebration
Today is a special day as it's my Husband and my 16th Wedding Anniversary
Growing older together is a special journey of love and companionship and all encompassing love
So romantic ..Danny gave me the perfect card and a large bunch of beautiful flowers
We have a very special romantic weekend planned and I will tell you all about it next week
Thank you for sharing a few moments of our happy celebration
I want to introduce you to the place where I was born and called home for 43 years ...it's a very unique British Island off of the North West coast of France ...An English island though with a very huge French influence
Most of our last names (surnames) are French ...and my Grandparent's spoke a Guernsey French dialect as well as English ...unfortunately Guernsey French is not widely spoken ..I myself can't speak it
This is a photo of the cobbled stone streets of the High Street (Main Street) of the Capital St. Peter Port
St Apolline’s Chapel is a small chapel (seating 14) within St Saviours Parish.
St Apolline's Chapel was the first designated ancient historic monument on Guernsey.
Dating from 1392, the small chapel was built by Nicholas Henry near his manor of La Perelle and dedicated to St Apolline (the patron saint of dentists).
Originally the chapel was painted and a substantial portion of the 14th century work, depicting the Last Supper, has survived on the south wall.
It was restored in 1972 - 78 and is now open to the public every day.
St Apolline's in a good place to visit, but also a place to stop and pray
Lots of wonderful Churches are scattered through out Guernsey ..this now is The Town Church ..a prominent part of St. Peter Port ..here is a little bit of history
In 1020 a small rectangular Chapel was built on the site of the now Town Church
In 1466 the Town Church was completed in it's present form including the spire and South transept
Welcome to the Little Chapel, Guernsey...I just love to visit this little chapel when I go home for a visit
A work of art and a labour of love, the Little Chapel is possibly the smallest chapel in the world. It was built by Brother Déodat who started work in March 1914. His plan was to create a miniature version of the famous grotto and basilica at Lourdes in France. Guardianship of the Little Chapel now rests with Blanchelande Girls College which is run by a Charitable Trust. The Little Chapel is beautifully decorated with seashells, pebbles and colourful pieces of broken china and the College has an ongoing programme of repairs and improvements.
A dolmen, also known as a cromlech, portal tomb, portal grave or quoit, is a type of single-chambermegalithic tomb, usually consisting of two or more upright stones supporting a large flat horizontal capstone (table), although there are also more complex variants. Most date from the early Neolithic period (4000 to 3000 BCE). Dolmens were typically covered with earth or smaller stones to form a barrow. In many instances, that covering has weathered away, leaving only the stone "skeleton" of the burial mound intact.
It remains unclear when, why, and by whom the earliest dolmens were made.
This beautiful flower is called 'Guernsey Cream Clematis' this is a fine example of it..so pretty..
I have so much to tell you about my little Island home and will tell you more in future posts
I hope you enjoyed some of the brief history of this unique Island ...that I call 'HOME"
Happy Days to you all

Have a wonderful fragrance filled day
Once a month my Husband and I have a treat and I make Naan Bread Pizza ...it's our favorite dish ..so yummy and easy to make ...
Why not have a go either tonight or at the weekend and eat it whilst watching your favorite television show
I always line a baking tray with foil and spray it with non-stick spray then put the Naan Bread on it
Buy or make a very good quality Basil Pesto and some Pasta Sauce of your choice ..sometimes I put Alfredo sauce on it instead of the Tomato Basil one I put on these ..
Spread the sauce (you could also use Crushed Tomatoes in a Can ) on the Naan breads then put a generous amount of Pesto on the top to it
Then sprinkle on the Caramelized onions on the top of that
Here is the selection of items I chose to put on the Pizza but you can put whatever you like ...I have Chopped Cooked Chicken, Browned Chorizo Sausage, some uncooked Maple Breakfast sausage ..just a tiny amount to add a bit of sweetness ..sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, tomatoes and slices of Mozzarella Cheese
I like to put the Peppers, Mushrooms, Chicken, both Sausages,Mozzarella Cheese and Tomatoes in that order but any order you would like will be wonderful
Season with Salt and freshly ground pepper corns then sprinkle with a good olive oil ..just a little..finally adding a sprinkle of Italian grated cheese ...or Lots of Cheese if you like
Already to go ....Pop in a Preheated 400 f degree (200 c ) or Gas Mark 6 for about 10 minutes ..start checking at 8 minutes
My Husband and I find this quite enough to eat but if you would like to bump it up a bit why not make my favorite Strawberry Fields Salad ...Mixed lettuce, Raisins,Sunflower Seeds,Pine nuts, Walnuts, and Strawberries sprinkled with the Best Balsamic Vinegar you can find
Morning from Maisonvogue ...Busy today working on Pillow orders especially for you ....it's a lovely day in Alabama, USA

This Jane Austen has an added extra...I like to put a list of all of her Best Known Novels on the backside of the pillow ...You seem to like that little personal touch
Hope you enjoy your day and have enjoyed looking at some of the pillows I am creating today
Best get on so that you receive them in time ....Happy Day to you all ...don't forget to get your orders in
Welcome to the American Front Porch ...Most houses have them ..they are very important to the families ..so many memories and reminiscing are done on them ...including some memories that we have made on our own front porch
Front porches are a way of life ...a place to meet people, a place to greet people, a place to watch people
Anything goes as a container for flowers and plants ..as long it will hold some soil and can have a few holes punched in the bottom for drainage ...old chairs are widely chosen these days for their shabby chic effect
Even the humblest of homes have front porches ..acting as extra rooms for the house ..somewhere to sit to watch the rain or in my Husband's case to watch the Tornadoes go by ...hopefully they will always go on by and never come to visit !!
My biggest criteria for buying my house in this country was that it was to have a large Front Country Porch...here it is ...You can use them for lots of occasions ...not just for sitting on .
In our case we used ours for the buffet at the joyous occasion of our Daughter's Wedding in 2013
Home made pies and fresh fruit were displayed on real tree trunk cake stands cut down in our Son in Laws woods
Our porch became the focal point of the reception on the front lawn ..and the bridal party were able to make a grand procession from the house along the porch of the desserts for our guest to enjoy
My beloved front porch is well used for conversation, relaxing, displaying flowers and above all bird watching as well as feeding all the critters such as raccoons, opossum's, chipmunks and stray cats that pass by
A great place for me to display and grow my much loved plants in the summer time
Front Porches are decorated according to the season as well , like these examples of season delights
Some people, especially in the south like to sleep on their front porches on gorgeous swing beds ..preferably a covered in porch with a roof and bug screen in the windows or walls to prevent getting eaten up by bugs ...or a mosquito net over the beds would do great...a rustic swing gives a smile below
Most times you just can't beat the view from your own front porch in the country side or beside the lake
Princess Catherine ...we are all waiting with baited breath to hear of the birth of either a Princess or Prince ...any day now ..we hope
The clock is ticking! Kate Middleton is now four days past her due date, According to Us Weekly can confirm.
The Duchess of Cambridge, 33, was scheduled to welcome the second royal baby on Thursday, April 23, but the day came and went with no sign of another little one in sight. Although Kensington Palace tells Us, "We have never commented on or discussed a due date," multiple sources have confirmed the royal's due date.
This write up and photo is from a Us Weekly report I came across today
So we are all waiting to hear the happy news ...a boy or a girl ...
i will let you know as soon as I know about too
Happy Monday to you all
Some FREE downloads from Maisonvogue of sweet images for you to create gift tags, journal pages, framed pics ..Enjoy
Print each one out ...attach to some pretty stock card from your local craft shop with Spray adhesive
Cut out ...punch a hole and add some pretty ribbon or twine
Now you have some lovely gift tags for all of your gift giving
Peonies,Cabbage Roses and Hydrangea's are my very favorite flowers ...you need only two or three to make the most wonderful arrangement
I was very luck a few years ago and went around the Amalfi Coast in Italy and it was a hot, hot day with an amazing Mediterranean breeze ..and the air was filled with an over whelming perfume of lemons ...they are every where ...gorgeous green trees with masses of bright yellow lemons on them ...they use them to make a strong liquor drink called 'Limoncello'
Oh my goodness ....isn't this just perfection !! The vines and just everything are too cute
I have never seen laundry drying with such beauty before ...just beautiful ...I am thinking that the staircase that is going to nowhere is like the ones in the island of Guernsey where I was born ..they are to put out the milk cans once they have filled them with the cows milk for the dairy to come and collect
I am going to look out for an old bicycle and I think I would spray it pink like above and put flowers in it !!
Beautiful roses ..here is a little tip ...just before the roses are going to be finished tie them up in a bunch with some twine or elastic bands and make a loop or use an 'S' hook and hang them upside down in a darkish place ...in about a week you will have the most beautiful bunch of dried roses ...to keep forever ..I do this all the time
I would love to eat here ...I wonder what is one the menu ? ...beautiful Amalfi
Weeds can be the most beautiful things ....these are just like wild flowers ..perhaps they are ..love them
Amazing artwork we can now do with a little help from our computers to use in so many different ways
Rethinking containers to use to tidy up my sewing room
Eating Al Fresco in a French Cafe drinking Cidré and eating Moule's in white wine sauce with Crusty Bread
Picking Hydrangea's from our garden and bringing them to dry for our Daughter's Wedding
My big blue cabbage rose chair and my thrift store find table that I repainted and painted a French address on
Great big bunches of tiny Lily of the Valley flowers each spring ...with their perfume filling our home
These are a few of my favorite things
I have mentioned in earlier posts that I have lived in Alabama, USA for the past 17 years but I was born and lived for 43 years in the beautiful island of Guernsey ..It's an English island just off of the North West Coast of France .
All of my life this beloved Statue of Queen Victoria's Husband, Prince Albert has stood proudly looking over us at the opening of the Albert Pier that stretches out in to the sea in the St. Peter Port harbor, the Capital of Guernsey
He has always been this lovely green patina from the bronze he is made out of oxidizing
So it was a pleasant surprise to see that He has been cleaned after all those years ..I don't know if he has ever been cleaned before ..not in my life time .
The makeover is just incredible ...Prince Albert looks Brand new and the details of the statue are amazing aren't they .....I just love it ...
Prince Albert's statue was put up in front of the Town Church in 1863
The bronze statue has now been repatinated with hot and cold wax.
The statue had turned green as the metal oxidised, but the work has returned him to a bronze colour.
The beautiful view of the town of St. Peter Port, Guernsey glistening in the sun from one of it's beautiful Marina's ..
The beautiful Town Church situated in St. Peter Port ...Prince Albert's statue is on the other side of the church just a little way's across a busy road overlooking the harbor and neighboring islands of the Bailwick of Guernsey
Originally known as Sancti Petri de Portu, many regard the Town Church as the Cathedral Church and the finest in the Channel Islands. The first mention of the Church in official documents was in 1048 when it is thought to have been given to the Abbot of Marmoutier by William of Normandy. It is likely that the original building was made of wood. The current building was built over a 200 year period with the chancel completed in the 12th century and the chapel added in 1462. The church was completed in 1475. However restoration work was carried out to the spire in 1721. The bells were recast in 1736 and in 1913. The clock was installed in 1781. Up until 1886, the rows of pews went in various directions and at that time some re-alignment was undertaken.
Such a pretty morning I decided to have my coffee outside this morning ..sitting on the rustic bench ..it's great for bird watching ..they are very close if I stay still & quiet and don't clink my spoon against the coffee cup !
I took out my little quilt and pillow to sit on but I didn't need it ..the sun was quite warm and lovely
Always loving my Cable reel table top ..on tree trunks that our Son-in-law made for me ..it's so cute
The Garden, porch and grass are looking a bit dull at the moment but give it just a few more weeks and it will be bursting with blooms and beauty ..can't wait
This funny old pottery piece was given to me by my Daughter ,it was in her garden when she moved to her house ...it's sort of ugly but it makes me smile when I see it ...had to give it a good home
I have had this plant for years ..it's very pretty and grows each year in to a small bush but I have no idea what it's called ..if you know please leave me a 'comment ' and let me know
I glanced outside today in the glorious Alabama Sunshine and saw the glory of my knock out roses
They were bobbing about in the light breeze saying ' look at me, look at me' how wonderful I look with my fresh green leaves and my bright red blooms ....these rose bushes are such a success
The only attention they require is to trim them back now and again to tame their wild ways ..love them
They inspired me to blog today about some of the flowers that adorn my garden every year ...I just love my garden and when we arrived 15 years ago it was just a blank canvas waiting for me to bring it alive
No landscaping what so ever just a green turfed lawn
My Son helped me create this little garden on the right ...whilst he was over here on a visit he helped me plant the trees and bushes ..they were much smaller then but love where we put them
The Gardenia Bush is in the same section and blooms three times a season filling the air with their perfume ...I breath it in and savor it's perfume every time I go outside
These two lace head hydrangea's make great cutting plants and if caught at the right time dry very well
A white gardenia bloom in all it's glory ..they only last one day but still make great cutting flowers to perfume your home ..as there are so many blooms you can replace them each day to keep it going
Anyone can grow these Morning Glories that I let do their own thing on the railings of our front porch ..they are self seeding and will come back each year ...try several colors together for visual impact. Collect some of the seeds and gift to family and friends to plant in a sunny spot after the last frost
Brightly colored Caladiums ..love the shade under the umbrella on the back deck whilst the hibiscus flowers bask in the hot sun of the day
I found a use for my old Kitchen baker's rack ..took it to pieces and used the iron work around the garden
Thanks for visiting my garden ..I hope it gave you a few ideas of what to do or what not to do ...enjoy it and don't let it be too much work ...most of my plants come up by themselves each year (perennial) and I add some annuals such as the impatient's, hanging baskets and little ones I can't resist to bring home every year
Fabric and chip bark all of your beds including the vegetable gardens ...no weeding ...and just replenish the bark ever other year
Oh yes my greatest tip is ...get your Husband to trim the bushes ...whilst you cover the surrounding ground and bushes with old sheets or ones from the thrift store ...so you just have to scoop up the corners once he has finished and dump the cuttings where you usually put them ...having the next bush already covered and ready for Hubby to do the next one ...then a clean garden and happiness all around
Happy gardening !!
